It’s a wonderful, rare sunny day here in Cannon Beach, and a few visitors enjoyed the first official Historical Walking Tour of downtown Cannon Beach this morning at 10 a.m.

The Historical Walking Tour program was inspired by the Historical Plaque Program we already have in place at the History Center, and it takes guests from Whale Park at the north end of town to the Coaster Theater at the south edge of downtown and back for a half-hour guided tour of historical sites.

Join us for tours of downtown Cannon Beach!

Visitors will learn about the old natatorium, a saltwater pool fed by Elk Creek and heated by oil before WWII, Tillamook Rock Lighthouse, Lewis and Clark’s voyage, Native American history, the Wave Roller Rink (now the Coaster Theatre) and many other points of interest in Cannon Beach. Town development, early settlement, and recreation will also be topics covered.

Guides will meet guests at Whale Park at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays in June and July (weather permitting) for the FREE walking tour. CALL AHEAD TO RESERVE YOUR SPACE! Call 503-436-9301, email, or comment on this post for more information.

Enjoy the sun!
